What you have built already

Read this first. With the tools and the time you had, this is what is genuinely working on Midwest Sportswear today.

Already in place

  • Established in 1981, with midwestsportswear.ca registered since July 2002. Only Saskatoon Bag and Case has an older domain among the five local sites we measured.
  • 188 pages in your sitemap, 95 of them distinct. That depth is why your modelled traffic ranks second of the five local sites we measured.
  • Three storefronts, not one. The main site, a full promotional-products catalogue at shop.midwestsportswear.ca with search, a cart, a wish list and customer logins, and a dedicated sublimated-uniforms site.
  • School and team online stores are already part of your offer, with the school setting its own fundraising margin and Midwest handling orders, payments and delivery.
  • A quote form on the home page, protected by reCAPTCHA, plus a dedicated Online Quote Form page.
  • LocalBusiness structured data is on the page. Only one of the four local competitors we measured has it.
  • Desktop speed scores 90 out of 100 on Google PageSpeed, second of the five sites measured.

What is working

  • A working sitemap.xml, so search engines can find everything you publish.
  • A valid robots.txt. Nothing is accidentally blocking crawlers.

How you compare in your market

The only honest benchmark is the one where everybody is measured with the same instrument. These are real competitors in your market, run through the same audit.

Search engine optimisation

Graded from your live markup, the same signals a search engine reads on its first pass. A blank ring means we could not measure it, not a zero.

What is working

  • HTTPS across the site.
  • A proper mobile viewport. The site adapts to phones.
  • Open Graph tags are set, so shared links preview correctly.
  • A canonical URL is declared, preventing duplicate-content dilution.
  • Structured data is present (WebPage, ReadAction, ImageObject, BreadcrumbList, ListItem).
  • Sitemap and robots.txt both present and readable.

What can be improved

  • Meta description is 270 characters. Aim for 140 to 160.
  • No Product or Service schema. Competitors get price and rating under their link, you get a plain blue line.

Speed and technical health

What is working

  • Desktop performance 90/100.
  • Layout shift 0.01. Nothing jumps while the page loads.
  • Accessibility 86/100.

What can be improved

  • Mobile performance 59/100. Most local searches happen on a phone, and this is where they land.
  • Largest paint 5.0s on mobile. Google's threshold is 2.5s, and slow pages rank lower.
  • 4,596 KB per visit. That is a slow load on a phone with weak signal.
  • No Chrome field data yet. Google has not seen enough real visitors on this site to publish live speed numbers, which is itself a traffic signal.

  • Promotional-products catalogue with categories and search is in place.
  • Cart, wish list and customer logins on the catalogue site is in place.

The Online Stores page. The fundraising offer is there; note the split 'E / Stablished 1981'.

What is working

  • The promise is clear in one line. 'The Best Choice For Your Sports, Work, Medical and Team apparel needs' names all four markets you serve, beside a 40+ Years In Business badge.
  • One orange Get Started button sits top right on the pages we captured, so the next step is never hard to find.
  • The catalogue is organised the way a buyer thinks: Apparel, Bags, Drinkware, Events, Leisure, Office, Recognition, Tech and Wellness, with search, wish list and cart in the header.

What can be improved

  • The headline is not an H1. What reads as the main heading is styled text. The home page has no H1 at all, so Google gets no clear statement of what the page is about.
  • The Online Designer page says coming soon, and has since September 2023. Under it, the product grid shows placeholder prices: 13 items at $0.00 and 4 at $1.00 on the first page. The page is listed in your sitemap, so Google can send people there.
  • Two sites that look like two companies. The main site is orange and navy; the catalogue at shop.midwestsportswear.ca uses a different layout, typeface and colour scheme, and opens on a generic supplier campaign banner ('Your Logo Here') rather than your own work.
  • The phone number and email are plain text. (306) 244-7730 and sales@midwestsportswear.ca appear on the home page, but neither is a tap-to-call or tap-to-email link.
  • The Online Stores page shows no example store. It explains the fundraising program in full, but we found no link to a live school or team store a buyer could look at.
  • A typo sits beside the fundraising pitch. The styled drop cap splits 'Established 1981' into 'E' and 'Stablished 1981'.

What is working

  • Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn are all linked from the site, so a visitor has somewhere to go.
  • 1,009 Facebook likes and 357 Instagram posts, read from the public profiles on 10 September 2026. There is an audience already.

What can be improved

  • No Meta pixel on the site, so the people who like the Facebook page cannot be shown anything again after they visit.
  • Last post dates were not measured. Facebook and LinkedIn could not be read without a login.

Advertising and tracking

What is actually installed on your pages, plus a check of the public ad libraries. Tag presence is a fact read from your code. We never estimate spend.

What is working

  • Google Analytics 4 is installed, so visits to the main site are being recorded.
  • None of the four local competitors we measured runs Google ads either. Among local shops, paid search for custom apparel in Saskatoon is still open.

What can be improved

  • Fully Promoted, the franchise with two Saskatoon locations, has more than 100 Google ads on file under fullypromoted.ca. That count covers its whole network; we could not isolate the Saskatoon locations.
  • No advertising pixel and no Google Ads conversion tag. If a campaign ever runs, nothing on the site could prove what it produced.

What you cannot measure yet

Not an opinion. We counted every way a visitor can become a job on your site, then counted how many of them any tool you have installed could actually record.

Call tracking
0 of 5 sites

What is working

  • Analytics is installed, so pageviews and sessions are being recorded.

What can be improved

  • No Google Ads conversion tag. The ads cannot learn which click produced work, so they keep bidding on the wrong ones.
  • No call tracking. The phone number printed on your pages is a conversion path nothing counts.

The fix, in order

1. tel: and mailto: links on every page
2. GA4 events on quote-form submit and on every tap to call or email
3. Confirm the same GA4 property runs on shop.midwestsportswear.ca
4. A Google Ads conversion tag imported from GA4, before any campaign runs
5. A Meta pixel, so the Facebook audience can be reached again

None of this changes how you sell. It only makes what you already do countable.

How these numbers were produced
  • Your live site, fetched and parsed on 10 September 2026 (markup, headings, schema, images, links, tags and social links).
  • robots.txt and sitemap.xml, for page counts and indexable surface.
  • RDAP, for the domain registration date.
  • Tranco public top-million list, for popularity rank where a domain appears in it.
  • Google PageSpeed Insights, for speed and Core Web Vitals where available.
  • Public ad libraries (Meta, Google Ads Transparency Center, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Public social profiles, read directly.
  • The same measurement, run on the same day, against 4 competitors: expressitmore.ca, strengthscreenprinting.com, sbccase.com, saskatoontees.ca.

One note on the composite score. Our standard audit includes an online-ordering component. A business that books work by quote never wanted a checkout, so that component is excluded from the grades shown here rather than counted against you.

The traffic figure is modelled, not measured. No free source publishes another company's real visitor counts. Our model is built from the pages a site has actually written, and it has been calibrated against real Google Search Console data on properties we own. It is shown as a range because the true value moves within it.

Anything we could not measure says so. Nowhere on this page is a missing value replaced with a plausible one.
